Built-In Butler's Pantry Charlottesville, VA
Rachel was in the process of doing a whole-house renovation, and the kitchen was part of the plan. Her contractor, Snyder Design/Build, was managing the project for her and contacted us to add a much needed custom built butler's pantry in some space that had been underutilized.
The challenges of the project were designing a unit that would fit wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling that would be straightforward to install while providing a custom built-in appearance, and the integration of the existing HVAC register.
The project features birch veneer cabinet boxes with solid wood poplar face frames and Shaker-style overlay cabinet doors. Crown molding trims out the top and the HVAC register was successfully integrated at the bottom for a custom built-in look. Use of both fixed and adjustable shelves provide flexible layout options for food and miscellaneous kitchen items.
The completed butler's pantry measures approximately 9'W x 9'H x 21"D, nearly doubling the amount of storage space available.
