Kitchen Refacing With Upgrades Afton, VA
Nancy came to us looking for someone to reface her kitchen cabinets as well as perform a few repairs and upgrades to personalize her space. Over the years the hinges wore out, drawers broke, and ideas for improvements sprung up. She still liked the style of her doors but they had certainly seen better days, so we used this as our starting point for the design.
Since the cabinet boxes were still in good shape and the cabinet door design was already decided, we put our focus on any necessary repairs and upgrades. A few of the drawers had begun to separate, so we replaced those along with the slides, with a few changes to the configuration to meet her specific usage needs. The paint on the cabinet faces had cracked, peeled and worn, so we repainted to match the new doors.
As for the upgrades, she had two spaces of usable size that she wanted to develop. A few years prior she had replaced the over-sized refrigerator with a standard size, leaving her with vacant, unused space. A pull-out pantry unit to the right, along with open storage above made efficient use of the space. We were also able to move the dishwasher over a few inches and reclaim a space large enough for baking sheets.
The completed project was a success, renewing the look of Nancy's kitchen as well as providing with some useful additional features!
